As part of the youth project “Unmasking the Digital Mirage: Media Literacy in the Age of Fake News”, our trainers Nikola and Natalija held a local workshop “Relay for fact-checking” on June 20, 2025 in Leskovac.

During the training, participants had the opportunity to learn how to check facts in real time and recognize various manipulative content. The influence of the media – from advertisements and newspaper articles to social media posts – and how they shape our perception of reality was discussed. Special emphasis is placed on developing critical thinking as a key tool in uncovering hidden messages and misinformation, as well as on the importance of checking information before accepting or sharing it.
The aim of the workshop was to equip young people with basic media literacy skills, and it was realized with the financial support of the European Union.

On September 10, 2025, as part of the first series of local workshops of the “Unmasking the Digital Mirage: Media Literacy in the Age of Fake News” project, a second workshop was organized under the name “Relay for fact-
checking and ranking the reliability of sources”. The workshop was held at the Trade and Hospitality School in Leskovac.
The goal of the training was to develop fact-checking skills among young people through the use of reliable sources of information. Special emphasis is placed on empowering young people to use information responsibly, recognize misinformation and actively participate in society as informed citizens.
This workshop is part of the youth project number: 2024-3-SK02-KA210-YOU-000279043, which is implemented with the financial support of the European Union.

On 17 October 2025 as part of the Erasmus Day celebration in Vranje, we held an interactive workshop on the topic of media literacy “Ranking the reliability of sources”
During the workshop we talked about:

• recognizing fake news,
• (un)reliable news sources and criteria for evaluating sources,
• safety on the Internet and social networks,
• the role of young people in the fight against misinformation.

Through practical examples, discussion and teamwork, the participants had the opportunity to learn how to assess the reliability of news sources, how to be informed and not manipulated, and what to pay attention to when checking the facts and sources of a news item.
